🤍 Did you know that all registered marriage celebrants in Australia are required by law to complete professional development activities every year?

I completed my 2024 obligations today and the main topic covered was CONSENT.

While I have been fortunate to never have doubted the consent of any of my couples, I understand the importance of determining that all parties to marriage are fully consensual and are validly married under Australian Law.

With recent changes to legislation, celebrants are now required to take extra steps to ensure each party to marriage truly understands the nature + effect of their marriage ceremony, and have satisfied the requirements of real consent, independent of each other.

Some of my most recently married couples have already experienced additional ‘mini-meets’ with me on the day of the wedding as a result, which hasn’t really changed things, as I usually check in with all my couples separately before the I do’s take place anyway! 😍

Oh and just in case you were wondering, Loren + Jason were clearly totally consensual before they shared this super gorgeous moment at @carouselalbertpark last month!
